Real leadership. Real results.
Putting our district first — with practical plans that lower costs and keep communities safe.
Jennifer Sundt is a former small business owner and trial attorney running for Congress to bring accountability, common sense, and real-world experience to Washington.
Who Am I
Born at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas into a military family, I learned early in life the importance, honor and privilege of serving this country. I grew up in Houston and after graduating from Baylor University, I moved to Manhattan where I earned my Master’s in Business Administration.
For a number of years, I owned and operated a bar/restaurant with my late husband. I learned critical economic lessons: calculating risk, balancing pricing and costs, managing cash flow and understanding supply chains. As a small business owner, I became adept at problem solving, decision making and time management. I honed my skills in leadership of employees, negotiating and communicating with vendors and landlords and successfully navigating city and state agencies. Having owned a business, I have a better appreciation of the fulfillment and challenges of job creation.
As a single mother with two young children, I returned to school to pursue a law degree. Thereafter, I clerked for a trial court judge and then moved into private practice. I am a trial attorney and those skills have proved invaluable to me. I have learned the art of questioning witnesses to get to the truth quickly, ascertaining an individual’s credibility and addressing issues with a laser focus. My work has further honed my business skills in terms of learning various businesses, as well as understanding family expenses and needs, both personal and financial.
I divide my time between Texas and New York and am a member of both the New York and Texas State Bars. My adult children graduated from the University of Texas and are currently pursuing their own careers. I purchased a residence near my parents’ home and see my mother often for her sound wisdom and insightful commentary. In addition to absorbing my father’s deep love for our country, I’m fortunate to have a mother, who worked in the radiation physics department of MD Anderson, and a sister, who has over thirty five years of experience in public school administration, who challenge me and add to my knowledge base in so many ways. My experience spans three decades and the breadth of resources from which I pull before making decisions is vast.
Why Should You Vote For Me
My experience as both a small business owner and a trial attorney make me uniquely qualified to represent the district in Congress. I have distinct skills related to entrepreneurship, job creation, contract negotiations, budget management, elimination of waste and dealing with government regulation that shape my understanding and implementation of effective economic policies.
Additionally, my years of being a trial attorney have taught me: (1) the skills of effective advocacy, negotiation and building an argument; (2) problem solving; and, (3) when necessary, the art of questioning a witness. I have had to read and interpret the law, create solutions when none exists and draft legal papers and agreements. With these skills, I am uniquely qualified to advocate for the needs of the district and be an effective member of Congress.
For these reasons, I am asking that you come out to vote on March 3rd because I want to be your advocate in Congress so that I can negotiate policies that advance the desires and needs of Houston on a national level.
